Buying Vintage:
CONDITION Buying vintage clothing means purchasing something that has some history. It is normal for vintage items to have been worn by the previous owner so unless an item is listed New Old Stock or Deadstock please keep in mind it has had a previous life. Listed below is the Glossary of Terms used by vintagebliss.ca to describe the condition of the merchandise. It is always recommended that the buyer make all necessary inquiries prior to the final purchase. All clothing and accessories are sold to be worn. We typically will not offer an item that is deemed unwearable or in poor condition. Any exceptions to this policy will be clearly noted in the description of the article.
Mint/New Oldstock/Deadstock: flawless condition, possibly unworn with or without tags, no visible imperfections, discolorations and an overall freshness that is found only in barely worn articles.
Excellent: may show some very minor wear attributed to light usage such as a resewn hem, alterations to the shape, minor discoloration in the lining, light scratching on the surface of leather goods, on the corners or interior of handbags. Overall the quality of these items is as close to original condition as possible given that there has been some light use.
Very Good: indicates good quality with some slight visible changes due to normal wear. Slight softness due to washing, linings may be faded. Belts, handbags and other accessories in leather or metal may show some minor scratching or interior discoloration.
Vintage Bliss strives to sell only the best quality wearable vintage clothing. Please feel free to contact us for further clarification on an item.
SIZING:
Vintage clothing and accessories are not sized like contemporary fashion. To ensure a proper fit, please compare your measurements to those of a good fitting garment of your own, or to your own measurements. Remember to allow for comfort. Up until the 1960s, women wore foundation garments so keep that in mind.
Measuring your size: Using a tape measure here are the guidelines to accurate sizing:
Bust: Measure under your arms at the fuller part of your bust. Keep tape level across your shoulder blades.
Waist: Measure around your natural waistline above your navel below your ribcage keeping the tape comfortably loose.
Hips: Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest point of your hips.
